Description
What is highlighting and contouring?
Terms such as shaping and contouring are now well-known beauty techniques. Simply put, light and dark colors help shape the face. Some areas of the face are lightened, making them stand out more. For example, it is possible to make the lips appear fuller by applying to the cupid's bow (the dimple above the upper lip). We obscure other sides of the face more into the background by making them darker. For example, make the face narrower, accentuate the cheekbones and emphasize the jawline.
Step-by-step plan for using the highlighter and contour palette:
With the NYX Professional Makeup Highlight & Contour Palette the possibilities are endless. Every face is different, but for a beautiful basic look you can follow the following step-by-step plan.
1. Apply a warm color to the temples (above the eyebrows) and cheekbones.
2. Apply a cool color just below the cheekbones to accentuate them
3. Apply a slightly darker shade under the cheekbones, on the side of the hairline, to emphasize the contours.
4. Use a highlighter and a narrow brush to slightly accentuate the nose.
5. As a final step, use a light highlighter/shimmer to bring out the most beautiful parts of the face. Think of the nose, the center of the forehead, the eyebrow bone, the dimple between the lip and nose (cupid's bow), the chin.
In the video tutorial above we explain contouring and highlighting the face step by step.
